My first lesson in art came to me by way of an estate sale. The dude running it hit me with this: art is your peripheral vision. It’s the world you see staring back at you. If you don’t like what you see? Turn 180 degrees to glimpse something different. In the years since this first lesson, I’ve realized my career as an artist was launched the moment I became a professional BMX rider. Known for a pure street style, I developed a bag of tricks that allowed me to go off the top like a Jazz musician or freestyle MC on any surface, in any urban environment around the world. In a curb, roofline, or staircase, I could see opportunities for infinite creative expression with my body and bike. My fascination with capturing the speed and creativity of BMX led me to videography and filmmaking, then feature film production design, and now contemporary art.

My vision as an artist is shaped by years spent exploring the streets, civic architecture, graffiti, public art and people that populate the cities around the globe. These influences combine to create paintings of vibrant color and line that weave the vertical scale of a city with the intimacy of the human face. I’m inspired by found materials and objects, like automotive salvage, discarded frames, old mirrors. I give these objects fresh life, and a new point of view, with the addition of colorful graphic abstractions and street style portraiture. Ultimately, each of my works is not just an expression of my vision and style, it’s an invitation for the viewer to make their own reality with what they see in front of them, or provide a platform to expand their perception 180 degrees.
